sows are the cornerstone of dekon’s breeding industry, and precision feeding is one of the core management of sows. only through close collaboration and cooperation among all parties can we implement the scientific management of sows, drive the overall improvement of the group’s breeding level and economic benefits, and truly enable dekon group to establish itself in the industry and become an industry leader.

on the basis of “establishment and application of whole breeding cycle regulation technique to improve reproductive performance of sows”, which was awarded the first prize for science and technology progress of hubei province in 2017, the research group led by professor peng jian from huazhong agricultural university further completed the precision feeding technology for different breeds, strains and hybrid combination breeding pigs, and carried out the technology promotion and application. the core of such technology is precision feeding of sows and big data analysis, which is of great practical significance to the development of dekon’s efficient breeding industry.

fat-measuring and feeding” is the basic work of “sow precision feeding project”. nevertheless, this long-term and sustained basic work has encountered difficulties in the management of many pig farms, including the lack of attention from leaders, the difficulty in implementing technical standards, the incomprehension of frontline employees, and the slow effectiveness of the project, etc.

on the contrary, the “sow precision feeding project” of dekon group has received high attention from all parties as a strategic project at the group level, and many difficulties have been overcome one by one after the project was launched. personnel shortage: each pig farm assigns professional personnel to join the project; training difficulty: the problem is solved by shooting standard videos, making post sop, organizing video training, making exam question bank and taking the exam, finally achieving 100% pass rate; not skilled in business: the fat-measuring commissioner uses the rest time to work overtime to complete the day’s business; great difficulty in data analysis: the project team has added automatic data analysis function to the report, and developed data analysis routines and work report templates to facilitate the fat-measuring commissioner to make quick statistics after simple summary of the data. not only that, the project team members also answer questions and correct errors in a timely manner by understanding the work status, operating procedures and report filling of each fat-measuring commissioner in real time. at the same time, dekon group implements semi-monthly ranking and bi-monthly pk to encourage everyone to achieve better results.

professor peng jian took advantage of his break time at night to give micro lessons to fat-measuring commissioners, answer questions, keep up with the project progress, and lead the project team to break through bottlenecks.

through the unremitting efforts of all parties, the “sow precision feeding project” has been put into practice in 25 breeding farms under dekon group, with a total of more than 37,000 sows, and has made phased progress--the data shows that compared with the beginning of the project, the back fat of sows has made remarkable progress: the proportion of standard back fat of sows in the whole herd has increased from 30% to 52%, an increase of 22 percentage points; the proportion of standard back fat of sows before delivery has increased from 36% to 70%, an increase of 34 percentage points. the production performance of sow herds has also been improved to a certain extent: the daily feed intake of lactating sows in sow herds has increased by 110g, and the average weight of 18-day lactating piglets has increased by 130g. what’s more gratifying is that the average daily feed intake of sows during pregnancy has decreased by 50g, which means that each sow can save 5.7kg of feed during pregnancy.

zhang yuanmei, a fat-measuring commissioner from panshi farm, is measuring the back fat

zhang yuanmei from panshi farm, a seemingly weak little girl, manages the precision feeding of 3,500 sows in the farm. at the beginning, she worked for more than 10 hours a day to complete the fat-measuring and feeding work with good quality and quantity. and she can identify problems in a timely manner and propose solutions to solve them, which make panshi farm the first farm in the group that reaches the predetermined standard back fat ratio. now 65% of sows in the farm have reached the standard back fat, and 80% of sows on the delivery bed have reached the standard back fat, which far exceeds the group’s average of 50% and 60% on the delivery bed.

he qiao from zhaifangjing no. 2 line is also an excellent woman who manages more than 1,600 sows. she is good at communicating with production staff and coordinating various positions to cooperate with the fat-measuring and feeding work; in the process of coping with the difficulty in fat adjustment of some sows, she summed up a set of effective methods; she is also able to maintain close communication with the fat-measuring team to exchange ideas and implement improvement plans. at present, nearly 80% of sows in the farm have reached the standard back fat, and more than 90% of sows on the delivery bed have reached the standard back fat. the good news is that the sow production performance of zhaifangqing pig farm ranks among the top in the entire group, and the performance of no. 2 line is particularly outstanding. in addition to the hard work of other pig farm managers, this is definitely closely related to the efforts of fat-measuring commissioners.
